location scouting
The Tree Scene
As part of one of our final scenes it was important that we found the perfect tree to suit our filming needs. It had to be in a secluded location, with grass surrounding the base of a tree. We wanted the location to always look as if it were warm or spring-time, even though most of the filming is occurring during the winter. This meant it was important to find tree's that still clung to their leaves, and also that the background did not contain any fall tree's with leaves littered on the ground. The hight of the tree couldn't be too high, as David would have to be able to climb the tree to get a shot from inside it looking down on the subjects at the base of the tree. The tree also had to be a nice colour with only a few branches sticking out.

The Gazebo Scene
For the gazebo scene, we wanted to find a pretty gazebo in a very secluded area to avoid any issues in sound. It was important to us that the gazebo was also situated in a park that would have a similar look to the one with our tree scene to maintain consistency from shot to shot. This meant the foliage had to be kept to a minimum with the grass bright green and the gazebo had to look like it would actually exist within the kind of park that we were filming the tree scene in. Funnily enough, there was a gazebo in the park that we planned on filming our tree scene in, the downside was that it had a barbecue right in the middle that would disrupt and interfere with the shot we wanted to get, the next best thing was to find a gazebo with as similar a look we could find to that one, which we succeeded in finding!
